Abstract

This qualitative multiple case study explored the experiences of the role of pickleball in a healthy lifestyle and the social dynamics and interactions of the adult pickleball players in the selected pickleball clubs in Region XI. The experiences and the social dynamics of pickleball in the five cases were examined through thematic analysis. The gathered data was triangulated in each case by interviewing the players they played with. The analysis yielded the following themes on their experiences: engaged in inclusive sport, motivated to stay engaged, optimized physical wellness, boosted psychological and social wellness, and achieved leisure satisfaction. The emergent themes for the social dynamics and interactions included maintaining positive social interaction and connection, cultivating a culture of sportsmanship and positivity, acknowledging diversity and inclusivity, sustaining team dynamics, and developing conflict resolution options. The five cases were similar in optimizing physical wellness and achieving leisure satisfaction. Regarding the navigation of their social dynamics and interactions, three of the five cases of pickleball players had different experiences from the rest.
