Abstract

Background: Background: Understanding the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of pharmacists regarding medication therapy management (MTM) is essential for effective service delivery.

Objectives: A survey-based research approach was employed, and data were collected from 84 registered pharmacists working in a tertiary hospital in Cebu.

Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative research design. It used a questionnaire designed to establish the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of registered pharmacists assigned to inpatient and other departments regarding medication therapy management.

Results:  The pharmacists demonstrated a high level of knowledge regarding MTM and exhibited positive attitudes towards it. They also actively engaged in MTM practices. Factors such as educational background, years of experience, and the healthcare setting influenced the KAP of pharmacists in relation to MTM.

Conclusion: Understanding the KAP of pharmacists on MTM in a tertiary hospital setting is crucial for optimizing medication management. This study contributes to the body of knowledge in the field. It offers valuable insights for healthcare practitioners, policymakers, and researchers seeking to enhance the delivery of MTM services in the Philippines and beyond.
